Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil Review by Leah Johnson at CBD Origin

The world of CBD is stuffed full of different types of products, including delicious gummies, tasty CBD oils, and soothing topicals. However, one type of product requires no external equipment, has excellent bioavailability, and is one of the easiest products to measure, dose, and consume. If you guessed CBD oils/oil drops, you’re correct! Today we have a premium hemp extract oil from Charlotte’s Web, crafted by the Stanley Brothers. We’ve already reviewed one of Charlotte’s Web’s products earlier this year: CBD Medic Back & Neck Pain Relief Ointment. With such a great product already reviewed, let’s check out the Hemp Extract Oil now!

Quality

Charlotte’s Web utilizes the USA-grown hemp that is extracted using 100% CO2 formulation. This environmental process uses carbon dioxide as a clean and safe way to extract the CBD, confirming that no negative impact is left on the environment. Their CBD products are designed to help manage daily stress, recover from exercise soreness and inflammation, and can help you sleep better by regulating your sleep cycle. The CBD contains naturally occurring terpenes, phytocannabinoids, flavonoids, essential fatty acids, and more. Charlotte’s Web does not use any artificial coloring or additives, meaning that the color of the extract may vary depending on the batch you get. This ensures that the hemp extract is pure and as natural as possible.

Lab Testing

Charlotte’s Web provides a Certificate of Analysis on all their products. It was a little tricky to find the lab testing results, but if you hover your mouse above the Explore tab, a little drop-down menu appears. The menu shows a COA tab that you can click on. Once there, you can enter your batch number, and the results of that batch number will show up. The Certificate of Analysis confirms that the product contains what it says it does, including the number of cannabinoids found and the quality of the hemp used. All of Charlotte’s Web’s products contain less than 0.3% THC, making them legally available for resale under the 2018 Farm Bill.

Packaging Information

The packaging for Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil Drops was very calming to look at. The dark 30mL bottle was light enough to see how much liquid remained but dark enough to protect the sensitive oil from harmful sunlight. The markings of the bottle were very unique. Most CBD oil drops are packaged to show the total count of CBD within the bottle (1000mg, 500mg, etc.), but Charlotte’s Web took a different approach and displays the amount of CBD per single milliliter. This got a little confusing when browning the site, but it was a very effective way of showcasing how much CBD you’d be consuming with a single dropperful. To see how much CBD is in an entire bottle, you’ll have to do some simple math: our 30mL bottle had 11mg per serving (1mL), meaning there was about 330mg of CBD per bottle.

The CBD oil came packaged in a thin paper box that was a relaxing shade of olive green and matched the label on the actual bottle. The company’s name was displayed vertically, along with hemp strength, flavor, and bottle size marked on the front. The right side of the label showed the supplemental fats and ingredients list: a serving size of two droppers that equaled 1mL, and there were 30 servings per container. The ingredients list had full strength hemp extract, fractionated coconut oil, organic mint chocolate flavor, organic sunflower oil, and natural flavorings. Directions for suggested use were displayed in white letters (a smart choice for such a dark-colored label), along with storage warnings and restricted use. The manufacturing information and company phone number was also listed, making it easy to view and contact where the product came from.

One thing that surprised me about the packing information was that the batch number and expiration date were marked on the actual label instead of the bottom of the bottle. This made it easy to look up the CoA on the company website, which was a nice touch.

Lastly, there wasn’t a clear set of instructions on how to use the product, although it’s a pretty simple process. Shake well, release the dropper contents under your tongue, and hold for 60-90 seconds before swallowing. Since there is no specific dosage of CBD that’s recommended across the board, you’ll have to do some experimenting with the amount of CBD that works for you. With that being said, let’s check out Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil and see how the flavor, consistency, and overall product are!

Experience

Even before I fully unscrewed the childproof dropper, I could smell a syrupy sweet scent mingled with hemp. Once the entire dropper was removed, I held the bottle close to my nose and smelled a cloying sweetness that was instantly recognizable as mint, chocolate, and hemp. I noticed that the dropper was not marked to show levels of CBD oil once the liquid was inside. The liquid was bright yellow and had a similar color and consistency as olive oil. I squeezed the dropper a few times to draw the liquid out and noted that the dropper only filled up a little more than halfway. The recommended serving size was two full droppers, meaning I’d have to have about 3-4 dropperfulls to reach the suggested dosage. I released the dropper contents under my tongue and noted that it was easy to hold under my tongue. I felt a cooling sensation building under my tongue that grew stronger the longer I held it under my tongue. After about a minute, I swished the CBD oil around my mouth to see how it tasted. It tasted very similar to a peppermint patty and was delightful to swallow. The mint and chocolate flavor blended wonderfully together and I did not taste any hemp flavor at all. Upon swallowing, there was a light menthol sensation that remained under my tongue and throughout my mouth that was extremely pleasant.

This was a delightful CBD oil to enjoy and I appreciated the ingenuity of having a mint and chocolate flavored CBD oil. The oil was easy to keep under my tongue and the cooling sensation was very relaxing. I would have preferred a graduated dropper to measure exactly how much I was taking, and while the dropper only reached halfway, perhaps this was a defective dropper and others will reach to the top. Overall, this was a delightful product that I highly enjoyed and could see myself using consistently.

Price vs Value

I had some difficulty finding the exact product on the company website. The product that I received for review is a 30mL bottle that contains 11mg of CBD per serving, but the closest I found on the website was a 30mL bottle of 7mg CBD/1mL. The CBD oil was listed at $29.99, but if you chose the subscription option, you saved 10% on recurring purchases. There were several different options for stronger CBD blends, such as 17mg, 50mg, and 60mg per 1mL, available in a 30mL or a 100mL option. There are four different flavors that the CBD oil comes in: mint chocolate, lemon twist, orange blossom, and naturally flavored. The wide range of strengths and flavors available allows potential and current customers to select their size, strength, and flavor based on their preferences. There is also a frequent pop-up window that encourages you to sign up for their mailing list to save 15% off your first order.
