3Chi Delta-8 THC Product Review by Leah Johnson at CBD Origin

What come to mind when you think of Delta-8 THC? Is it soft chewy gummies or smooth rolling puffs from a vape cartridge? There are literally hundreds of Delta-8 THC products on the market, and more continue to emerge every day. While you’re probably familiar the main two categories of cannabinoid-infused products (edibles and inhalables), today we’re going to take a look at a new type of Delta-8 THC product: a drinkable! The 3Chi Delta 8 Flavored Drink Enhancer is both innovative and unique, and we’re bursting with excitement to share this review with you. But before we whet our whistles on this refreshing drinkable, let’s take a moment to go over what Delta-8 THC is and what you should expect when taking Delta-8 THC for the first time.

Delta-8 THC: A Brief Overview

Delta-8 THC is a remarkable cannabinoid that is derived from the hemp plant, along with several other cannabinoids you may already be familiar with. Delta-9 THC is one of those cannabinoids, better known as marijuana or weed. Marijuana has been used for centuries to treat those suffering from chronic pain, sleep and eating disorders, paranoia, anxiety, and much more. Yet the intense high can be too overwhelming for new users, either by taking too much or using the wrong strain. CBD, on the other hand, is a completely non-psychoactive cannabinoid that delivers the same benefits of marijuna, just without the high.

For those desiring a middle ground between getting sky high or not at all high, Delta-8 THC offers a smoother and more controlled high that is much more subdued and calming. What’s more is that Delta-8 THC is federally legal, as long as it is derived from the hemp plant and contains 0.3% THC or less. Delta-8 THC is affectionately referred to as the “lite” version of weed, and can offer a deliciously heady high that brings a wealth of pleasurable side effects to the user. In the next section, we’ll go over some of these expected side effects, along with other useful information for those embarking on their Delta-8 THC journey.

What To Expect On Your Delta-8 THC High

Delta-8 THC products are typically categorized into two segments: inhalables and edibles. Inhalables (i.e., vape cartridges, disposables, pre-rolls, and flower) are often tailored to more advanced users and will require some knowledge of smoking/vaping. Vape cartridges will require a specific battery-operated pen to fire, flowers will need to be ground up and rolled, and disposables will only last as long as the battery remains charged. These types of inhalables are attractive because the high usually begin within 5-10 minutes, but the high will begin to taper off after about an hour (sometimes less).

On the other hand, edibles (i.e., baked goods, gummies, tinctures, and softgels) are much easier to consume and are easy for beginners to start with. Edibles may take anywhere from 30-90 minutes to kick in, and can last up to four hours. It’s recommended to take edibles with a meal to allow the high to start gently and intensify slowly, rather than an intense high that kicks in hard and fast.

When it comes to side effects, edibles also tend to have more side effects, such as dry mouth and hemp aftertastes. Some of the more pleasurable side effects include sleepiness, warm euphoria, relaxation, creativity, increased appetite and heightened sensitivity. You may also experience heavy or reddened eyes, dizziness, disorientation, or nausea, but it depends on the type of product consumed and previous THC exposure.

You should never attempt to operate machinery or vehicles while under the influence of a Delta-8 THC high, as the high may impair your normal reaction time. If you’re subjected to random drug testing for employment, you may fail a drug test due to THC metabolites that remain in your system. Despite Delta-8 THC being legal on a federal level, some states will have their own legislation, so be sure to check your state laws for confirmation. Lastly, always start off with small doses. Taking too much Delta-8 THC can result in increased paranoia and anxiety, as well as extreme drowsiness. The effects of a Delta-8 THC high will vary with the user, depending on metabolism, weight, age, gender, previous exposure to THC, and others. Most brands list the recommended dose on the packaging as well as the company website, but you can tailor this to meet your specific needs once you’ve gauged how your body reacts.

3Chi: The Brand

We’ve actually reviewed several products from 3Chi, including a powerful tincture and delicious gummies, so it’s no surprise that we’re reviewing this brand once more. Due to the nature of this product, there are many questions that you may immediately think of: “can I add it to a bottle of water and sip it throughout the day? Is it better in hot or cold water? Should I drink it alone or with a meal? Will ice in my glass affect the high?” All of these questions are excellent, and 3Chi attempts to answer as many as possible in their product description (which I encourage you to check out after you’ve read this review). The drink enhancers come in two flavors: pink lemonade and tangerine lime. A pack of 10 is sold for a mere $39.99, while a pack of 50 flavorless packets goes for $99.99. Each packet contains 25mg of Delta-8 THC, and contains less than 0.3% THC as required by the 2018 Farm Bill.

While all of our 3Chi product reviews are Delta-8 THC products, there are quite a few other cannabinoid-infused products available to users, including rare compounds like CBG, Delta-6a10a THC, THC-O, and more. The range of products in each cannabinoid is equally impressive, offering everything from familiar favorites like gummies and vape cartridges to rare finds like baked goods and concentrates. Each product description goes into great detail about the product and has verified customer reviews on each product. The site is professionally designed and clearly categorized for easy navigation, making it easy for both the experienced user and the casual browser to find a product tailored for their needs. 3Chi has made a name for themselves in the Delta-8 THC industry as one of the finest in the industry and we’re honored to be trying these beverage enhancers for the first time. Speaking of which, it’s high time (pun intended) that we reviewed the 3Chi Flavored Drink Enhancers. Grab your favorite beverage and join us as we sample these powder packets for the first time!

3Chi Delta-8 THC Flavored Drink Enhancer Product Review

Due to the nature of the Delta-8 THC Flavored Drink Enhancers, I wasn’t quite sure how to review this type of product. 3Chi does state that the powdered packets can be added to either hot or cold drinks, just as long as it’s not an alcoholic one. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of exactly how much liquid should be used. I decided to add a full packet to an 8oz. glass of cold water as a compliment for my evening meal. I tore open a packet of the Pink Lemonade flavor and carefully powered the pink powder into my glass.

The powder stirred easily and dissolved into the water almost instantly, and there wasn’t any remaining powder left on the bottom of the glass. The pink lemonade hue was a little darker than I expected, but looked and smelled very much like your average pink lemonade drink. I didn’t use any ice, nor did I chug the whole thing in one gulp. Instead, I took casual sips as one does with a dinner beverage and noted that the lemonade was not as sweet as I expected. It had more of a tart and tangy flavor that had light undertones of hemp as an aftertaste. I noted a slight burning sensation in the back of my throat, and a stronger sour flavor as I came closer to finishing the drink. I finished the pink lemonade in about ten minutes and settled in to await the effects. I especially appreciated this type of delivery method because it was a gradual form of consumption that was simple to use and easy to enjoy.

I was absolutely floored by how quickly the effects kicked in, as I was expecting a prolonged start time as with typical Delta-8 THC edibles. I started to feel the effects about five minutes after finishing the drink, and the high came on hard and fast. I noticed a slight dizziness in the beginning that progressed into a powerful body high, complete with warm euphoria and spurts of creativity. I felt a delicious tingling in my hands, feelt, face, and arms, as well as a heavy weighted feeling that descended quickly on my whole body. I felt weightless and heavy at the same time, and felt extremely relaxed. Time seemed to slow down, yet I distinctly remember feeling the high intensify after about 20 minutes. My speech became slurred and I felt like I was walking through a fog. My eyelids grew heavier and I experienced a heightened sense of touch and taste, and my mouth felt wetter rather than cotton-mouthed. I drifted off into a deep slumber and woke up feeling refreshed, with only a slight fogginess that I like to call the “hangover high.”

I was not expecting the sheer force or the sudden onset of the high, but it was easily one of the best and most intense highs I’ve experienced from any Delta-8 THC product. I strongly encourage you to start off with half a packet if you’re trying these for the first time and definitely don’t have anything planned for the next four hours! These drink enhancers from 3Chi are powerful and delicious, and I definitely recommend them to anyone looking to experience a unique and fast-acting high.

3Chi General Information

Lab Testing

Currently, the FDA does not regulate any cannabinoid product, meaning that anyone can create a product and claim to have the “purest and most potent” product, and you’d have to take their word for it. To combat this, reputable brands send their products out to unaffiliated labs for testing, known as independent third-party lab testing. These tests are time-consuming and often expensive, but are extremely necessary to build trust and deliver confidence to the potential buyers. While many companies offer these results in a Certificate of Analysis (CoA), some less-reputable companies will steal these results (especially when they’re offered for free on another brand’s website) and edit them to pass them off as their own. You can read more about several brands we’ve caught doing this, but the moral of the story is that you should always confirm the lab results yourself. Authentic lab results will have the lab listed on the CoA along with the batch number and date tested, making it easy to confirm the results are accurate.

3Chi offers the results of their third-party lab testing directly on their website, beautifully categorized according to product and cannabinoid. Both old and current results are clearly labeled, making it easy to compare and confirm both the potency and purity of each batch tested. Clear pictures and easy-to-navigate placement allows you to view the results of whatever product you’re curious about. I deeply appreciated this level of transparency and organization, and I’m sure countless others will as well.

Hemp Information

3Chi was the first brand in the U.S. to offer legal THC-dominant products on a federal level, thanks to their pure hemp-derived Delta-8 THC developed in 2019. The brand was founded by a talented biochemist with over a decade of experience in cannabinoid research and development. 3Chi is dedicated to deconstructing the hemp plant to utilize as many cannabinoids as possible, which is emphasized by the astonishing amount of cannabinoid-infused products in their catalog. They are known as the leading distributors of both Delta-8 THC and CBN, and continue their efforts to offer some of the finest cannabinoid products in the industry that can be used both medicinally and recreationally.

Product Packaging

The 3Chi Delta-8 THC Flavored Drink Enhancer comes in a slim black packet that is easy to tear open and looks very similar to other powdered drink packets you’d find in a grocery store. The enlarged brand logo is stamped at the top of the packet, directly above a picture of pink and yellow lemons. The flavor name, Delta-8 THC content, and product type are also listed near the bottom, along with the net weight. On the back of the packet, yellow block print outlines the nutritional facts, manufacturing information, and the ingredient list. There is a small QR code that, when scanned, will redirect you to the Lab Testing site of the company website. I would have liked to see recommended dosage or usage instructions somewhere on the tubing, but I realize that the small packaging has limited space.

Conclusion

The 3Chi Delta-8 THC Flavored Drink Enhancer has easily earned itself a spot on my all-time favorites. From tasting my first sip of the enhanced water to the deliciously powerful mind and body, these unique Delta-8 THC beverage enhancers were an absolute delight to review. I loved how this particular product fused the fast-acting powers of an inhalable with the simplicity of an edible. The taste was tart and tangy as a lemonade should be, the effects began minutes after finishing the drink, and the high lasted for several hours. The high itself was powerful for both the mind and body, and was euphoric and relaxing while still allowing me to remain clear-headed and in control. 3Chi continues to impress me with their incredible lineup of products, innovative use of multiple cannabinoids, and their dedication to delivering a pure and potent product. I eagerly look forward to reviewing more of 3Chi’s impressive products.
