Are you looking for a way to lift your spirits and still remain true to your vegan lifestyle? Thanks to the Urb gummies from the Lifted Made brand, now you can! In today’s article, I’ll review a rarity in the Delta-8 THC realm: a completely vegan, gluten free, and non-GMO gummy. The Lifted Made brand contains one of the strongest Delta-8 THC content per gummy that I’ve ever come across, 50mg per gummy, and I’m so curious to see how this product compares against some of the other products I’ve tried. In addition to reviewing these unique birthday-cake flavored gummies, I’ll explain what Delta-8 THC is, why it’s disrupting the cannabis industry in such a unique way, explore some of the many products from the Lifted Made brand, and much more. Let’s begin with a quick recap of what this incredible cannabinoid is.
Delta-8 THC: A Very Brief Overview
Delta-8 THC is a unique cannabinoid that is derived from the hemp plant, a fantastic plant that has been used for centuries for a variety of health reasons. One of the hemp plant’s most famous cannabinoids is cannabidiol, fondly abbreviated as CBD. CBD has been used to help with sleep issues, depression, anxiety, and more, but does not get the user high in any way. On the other end of the spectrum is the infamous Delta-9 THC, more commonly known as marijuana and weed. Marijauna has been vilified over the centuries as a gateway drug due to its powerful mind-altering properties, but has recently become more acceptable for both medicinal and recreational use. Many states have legalized the sale and use of this cannabinoid as long as it meets the state-mandated laws, but there are still many legal hurdles left to overcome.
Delta-8 THC serves as a sort of middle ground for both CBD and Delta-9 THC, offering a smoother and more controlled mind and body high that allows the user to remain clear-headed and in control. Delta-8 THC may seem like a brand new cannabinoid due to its recent popularity, but it’s actually been around for several decades. The volatility of this cannabinoid was suppressed by the United States until very recently, which is why you see and hear so much about this “lite” version of marijuana. If you’ve ever tried marijuana before and been scarred by its effects, or simply want something that doesn’t overpower your senses, it may be time to consider Delta-8 THC instead! What To Expect On Your Delta-8 THC High
If you’re just starting out on your Delta-8 THC journey, it’s important to pace yourself. Always check the package of whatever Delta-8 THC product you’re trying for suggested dosages. Taking too much Delta-8 THC can result in mild paranoia, extreme drowsiness, and more. Some companies recommend starting out with half a gummy, a single softgel, one or two puffs, and so forth. Remember that you can always increase your dosage for next time, but there’s no rush to get your body acclimated. Each product will have different reaction times, a fact that I include in all of our Delta-8 THC product reviews. Products like softgels, gummies, and other edibles can take as little as 30 minutes to kick in, whereas others can kick in up to 3 hours after consumption. Pre-rolls, disposables, and cartridges usually kick in within 5 minutes from the initial puff, but are more of an advanced user item that require some knowledge of vaping or smoking to use properly, and will require external hardware to operate.
Since this cannabinoid does indeed get you high, you should not operate machinery or vehicles while under the influence of Delta-8 THC. The high from Delta-8 THC can last for several hours, which is why I prefer to consume these products at the end of the day to relax and unwind without interruption. Delta-8 THC can help with creativity, appetite stimulation, sleep aid, sexual pleasure, mood enhancer, and so much more. If you’re considering taking Delta-8 THC for the first time, always consult your primary care physician to ensure it does not interfere with any medication or pre-existing health conditions. Since Delta-8 THC is not regulated by the FDA, it’s crucial that you always acquire your Delta-8 THC products from companies with verified reviews, independent lab test results, and quality hemp information listed. All Delta-8 THC products are required by law (under the 2018 Farm Bill) to contain less than 0.3% THC content, making them legal for sale and distribution in states where hemp is legal. However, prolonged use of any product containing THC, even with such a little amount as 0.3%, may cause you to fail a drug test. Keep this in mind if your workplace requires any type of drug testing, either random or initial.
Lastly, there are some minor side effects to keep in mind while experiencing a Delta-8 THC high. Dry mouth and drowsiness are some of the less pleasant ones, while heightened arousal and increased appetite are the more enjoyable ones. Your reaction to Delta-8 THC depends on your previous exposure to THC (if any), as well as your height, weight, age, metabolism, and others. On a side note, your favorite foods and beverages will taste incredible, and your sexual experiences can help you and your partner reach unimaginable heights of pleasure, but you’ll have to experience those for yourself! On that note, let’s check out the first vegan product we’ve ever reviewed on CBD Origin: the Birthday Cake Vegan Gummies from Urb Lifted Made!
The Urb Lifted Made Brand
For those of you who may not be aware, gummies are usually made from corn syrup, starch, water, sucralose, and gelatin. Traditional gelatin is made by boiling animal ligaments, bones, and fat (often from pigs) to create the jelly-like texture we’re familiar with. For vegan gummies, plant-based alternatives like agar agar, vega gel, and carrageenan are used instead of animal-based gelatin. The Urb sub-brand of the Lifted Made brand uses pectin as a plant-sourced gelatin to conform to the dietary restrictions of both vegetarians and vegans. Their motto “Premium Products for a Lifted Lifestyle” allows vegans, vegetarians, and nonvegetarians alike to come together in harmony to enjoy the incredibly vast selection of products made available on the Lifted Made website. The site is beautifully designed with crisp videos, impressive features (including Forbes, Rolling Stone, and GQ), and colorful graphics throughout the site. The dropdown menu makes it easy to navigate the site based on what you’re looking for, whether it be Delta-8, 9, or 10 THC, THC-V, THC-0, CBD, or CGN.
Their products include literally everything you can think of, including “inhalables” (my first time seeing that term), edibles like chocolate and gummies, dabs, flowers, pet products, and topicals, all listed and categorized in accordance with each category. Their Delta-8 THC gummy category is completely vegan, available in five flavors of varying strengths. Each gummy comes with a 50mg Delta-8 THC content, one of the strongest I’ve seen in the industry. Their pricing was a little wonky, with a 250mg pack selling for $21.99, but their 500mg pack going for a mere $15, and their 875mg pack priced at $44.99, with their 1750mg pack going for $40. I’m not sure if it was meant to encourage potential customers to buy more for less, but it seemed a little confusing for a first-time buyer. Aside from these odd price structures, there were no additional discounts for primary purchases, nor was there a subscription option for repeat purchases. There was a pop-up window that encouraged browsers to sign up for their newsletter, but there weren’t any additional promotions to warrant signing up other than for promotional sales and the like.
The site featured an impressive blog section that offered pertinent information about upcoming and current products on the site, information about the array of cannabinoids available in the market, and other hemp-related topics. One feature I loved about this site was a full list of all the states as well as whether or not Delta-8 THC or Delta-9 THC is legal in your state. This undoubtedly took hours to put together and I was delighted to be able to quickly scroll through and confirm the legality of both cannabinoids in any state that I selected. Lastly, there was a wholesaler section for those interested in stocking the shelves of their online or brick-and-mortar stores, as well as a lab results tab which I’ll come back to shortly after our review. Speaking of which, let’s jump right into the review of these unique vegan treats and see if the hype matches the high!
Delta-8 THC Birthday Cake Gummies Product Review
It always excites me to try a Delta-8 THC product for the first time, and the Urb gummies from the Lifted Made brand had me beyond curious to sample a vegan gummy for the first time. The small rectangular-shaped box that was a bit difficult to open (more on that in the product packaging section of this review!) but was able to pop off the top and examine the contents within. Five blue disc-shaped gummies lay nestled together, each coated with fine sugar crystals. I fished one out and noted the firm texture that was slightly spongey when squeezed.
I popped one in my mouth and was a bit surprised to discover the gummies had a very tough consistency to chew through, very different from the soft and chewy gummies I’d tried before. Whether it was due to the gummies being vegan or from the high Delta-8 THC content, I couldn’t say. After the initial shock of the tough consistency, I was also dismayed with the flavor. My dreams of tasting a thick slice of birthday cake and sprinkles were rudely dashed and I found myself confused with what the flavor was actually supposed to be. It was more of a fruit flavor with an undertone of dessert flavor blended with a strong flavor of hemp in every chew. After swallowing, I noticed a warm tinging in my mouth and noted there was a thin film left behind on my teeth. There was a bitter hemp aftertaste as well as a light burning in my throat, and I realized after swallowing that a few chewed pieces got stuck in my teeth. I recommend brushing your teeth or rinsing your mouth out with water once you finish consuming these gummies.
I noted my start time and checked the packaging for an estimated activation time, which there was: one hour after consumption. Full disclosure: I ate my dinner about an hour before consuming these gummies, so I’m not sure if that had anything to do with the prolonged start time, but I truly did not feel anything until a little over 3 hours later. For such a high Delta-8 THC content (50mg per gummy, double the amount of traditional gummies), I was extremely surprised that the activation time was that long. Yet once the high began, it was absolutely magical. My sense of touch became heightened, to where even grazing my arm with my fingernails became pleasurable. I was peaceful and relaxed, albeit a little dizzy when walking. I had a very light dry mouth that was quickly rectified with a swig of water, and I did not see any reddening of my eyes. I noticed that I became extremely drowsy and had difficulty keeping my eyelids open. I felt a comfortable heaviness descend on my senses like a warm weighted blanket, and I had a delicious tingling across my my entire body. Due to the high Delta-8 THC count, I felt a slight bit of anxiety at times, but this was quickly quelled as the high progressed and left me remaining clear-headed and in control. I drifted off into a deep sleep and awoke feeling refreshed.
These gummies were especially potent for me, as I review Delta-8 THC products constantly and my THC tolerance is somewhat high (no pun intended!). If you’re trying these gummies for the first time, I strongly urge you to start with half a gummy until you can accurately gauge your body’s reaction. While the recommended serving size is a full gummy, the strong Delta-8 THC content makes me concerned that new users will feel overwhelmed. If you’re feeling bold and adventurous enough to take a full gummy, just make sure you’re in a safe stable environment. If you feel yourself start to get paranoid or anxious, take comfort in the fact that Delta-8 THC works naturally with your body and will leave you clear-headed and in control throughout your high. Delta-8 THC is a wonderful cannabinoid from the hemp plant and can open your eyes to a whole new world of pleasure, relaxation, and euphoria.
Urb Lifted Made General Information
Lab Testing
Currently, there is no FDA regulation of anything in the hemp industry, a fact clearly dictated in the Disclaimer section of the Urb Lifted Made site. To combat this, the Urb Lifted Made company provides the results of third-party independent lab testing in their Lab Results tab. Simply click on that tab and you’ll be redirected to quite a lengthy page of all their product test results, neatly categorized by cannabinoid and presented in clickable bubble tabs. Independent lab test results are the only way to confirm the validity of the product contents, and can be a great way to ensure peace of mind when purchasing and consuming Delta-8 THC products for the first time. Since these tests are often expensive and time-consuming, some companies may choose to have those results listed only as QR codes on the product packaging, seemingly as a reward for customers who have purchased their products in good faith. The Urb Lifted Made brand offers these results freely on both their product packaging and on their company site, a fact that I greatly appreciated as both a casual browser of their other products and a consumer of their vegan birthday-cake flavored gummies. I also loved that the test results were very recent and were available for every single product in their inventory. Now that we’ve covered the lab testing section, let’s check out Urb Lifted Made’s hemp information.
Hemp Information
The Lifted Made brand has been manufacturing hemp and hemp-infused products since 2014. Urb Finest Flowers has been their flagship brand that focuses on delivering premium hemp-based gummies that are vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free. But here’s where finding the rest of the hemp information gets a bit tricky. Lifted Made has partial ownership of or intent to acquire other brands, such as Savage CBD, Delta Extrax (check out our review of this brand here), FR3SH, and others. With so many companies in the pot (no pun intended!), it’s difficult to confirm where all the hemp is sourced from and the quality thereof. Now you see why the independent lab results are so important! If I find more information on the hemp used in the Urb brand, I will update this review with that new info. For now, let’s wrap up the review with the product packaging!
Product Packaging
I’ll start off by saying this is one of the most unique product packaging I’ve ever experienced with all my Delta-8 THC product reviews. Most gummies commonly come in a resealable clear pouch, occasionally in a darkly tinted glass jar or plastic bottle. The Urb gummies I received came in a small plastic container that was rectangular shaped with a pop-up top. This devilishly clever design requires pressure to be applied to two opposite sides of the container, resulting in the tab “popping up” in order to open. Granted, there are two extremely faint squeeze markers on the sides, but I only saw these after much frustration in trying to open the container. Perhaps this is why the current gummies are now sold in the familiar resealable pouches. The plastic container was undoubtedly the best child-proof container I’ve seen…and also somewhat adult-proof! The white container was wrapped in a brightly covered label that used soft pastels that reminded me of a summer sunset. An oddly shaped blob of icing and sprinkles confirmed the flavor of Birthday Cake, which was also spelled out on the bottom of the label. The Delta-8 THC content and gummy count were also included, as well as the emphasis that these gummies were vegan. On the left side of the label, there was an approximate activation time of 60 minutes, as well as an FDA disclaimer. The right side simply listed manufacturing information, while the back of the label listed supplemental facts per gummy, the ingredient list, and required warnings.
CONCLUSION
As my first introduction into the world of vegan gummies, I wish I could say I enjoyed everything about these Urb birthday cake vegan gummies . Unfortunately, the tough texture and the complete absence of birthday cake flavor made me rank these as one of my least favorite gummies to consume. The high, on the other hand, was everything a Delta-8 THC high should be: warm, euphoric, flighty, and relaxed. The reaction time was quite a bit longer than the packaging indicated, but it was nice that the company gave an expected activation time, especially since many other companies don’t offer that at all. The website was a delight to browse through, and the sheer volume of other products made me curious about the other flavors and product variety to be consumed. If you’ve tried any of the other products from the Urb or Lifted Made brand, please share your experiences in the comments below! In our next article, I’ll be reviewing yet another vegan gummy called Strawberry Gelato from the BudPop brand. Check back soon for more CBD and Delta-8 THC product reviews from world-renowned brands throughout the country. I look forward to seeing you there!
